Overview of Headache
Headache is a very common condition in all people of the world and most of the people will experience many times headache pain in their daily life routine. Pain is the main symptom of headache. As everyone knows that how is difficult to bear the pain on working days. Sometimes headache pain is mild but in some cases headache pain is severe that makes difficulties to concentrate at work and peoples cannot perform their daily life activities. Cause of Headache
Headache may be affecting any portion of the head and cause pain in one or several locations in the head. Headache causes many types of pain in peoples.
During headaches, pain results from signals that interacting among the brain, nerves, and blood vessels. During headache pain, an unknown mechanism activate the nerves that affect blood vessels and body muscles. These nerves can switch on send pain signals to the brain. But it is not yet clear how these signals come from.
Types of Headache
There are more than 300 types of a headache but only almost 10% of headache have a known cause.
(1) Primary headache
A primary headache is not a symptom of any illness or disease. A primary headache is those that are not due to any medical condition. There are categories given below,
- Cluster headaches.
- New daily persistent headaches (NDPH).
- Tension headaches.
(2) Secondary headache
A secondary headache is related to a medical condition which is given below,
- The disease of blood vessels in the brain.
- Head injury.
- High blood pressure (hypertension).
- Medication overuse.
- Sinus congestion.
Symptoms by Types
Tension headache cause the following symptoms:
- Neck stiffness
- Dull pain and aching
- Scalp tenderness
- Shoulder stiffness
- tightness or pressure across the forehead that may extend to the sides or back of the head in people.
Sometimes tension headaches may be felt like migraines.
Cluster migraines are short in duration and frequently cause pain behind the eyes. The pain is ordinarily on one side, and it could be portrayed as pulsating or consistent in nature. Cluster headache will ordinarily happen around one to two hours after an individual goes to bed. While they may have a few indications like migraine, they typically don’t cause nausea.
